Izhmash exported $16.2 million worth of weapons to the U.S. last year and is looking to expand its presence in the American market, the weapons producer said Tuesday.
Izhmash's 2012 exports to the U.S. represent a 15 percent increase over the previous year, the state corporation said in a statement.
Konstantin Busygin, who was appointed CEO of Izhmash last month, stressed the importance of the U.S. market for the weapons producer, saying that the market accounts for more than 80 percent of the company's civilian exports.
The statement said that Izhmash would be demonstrating its latest range of weapons between Jan. 15 and 18 at the SHOT Show 2013 weapons exhibition in Las Vegas and that the corporation was close to completing designs for two new rifles, targeting the U.S. market.
