7 Bill Protesters Detained

Seven protesters against the proposed adoption ban were detained on Wednesday for holding an unsanctioned protest near the Federation Council, news reports said.

Apart from the protesters, four members of the Russian Mothers organization were also detained while picketing in support of the bill, RBC reported.

All those detained were taken to a police station to determine what administrative liability they face, police told Interfax. Police cordoned off the area around the Federation Council, with an increased security presence in the area. (MT)
