Putin Makes 2 Appointments

President Vladimir Putin appointed career diplomat Alexander Manzhosin as head of the Kremlin's foreign policy department and former Deputy Education and Science Minister Alexander Khlunov as the head of its science and education policy department, the Kremlin said Saturday.

Manzhosin served as a diplomat in Turkey and Cyprus in the 1980s and rose in the ranks in presidential advisory bodies in the 1990s and 2000s.

Kommersant and Moskvoskiye Novosti reported last week that the education post would go to Andrei Fursenko, a former education minister.
