Usmanov Mulls Platinum

Alisher Usmanov's Metalloinvest is thinking of branching out into the mining and processing of platinum-group metals, the company said.

State-owned Russian Technologies, Metalloinvest's partner in Scartel Telconet and Metalloinvest signed a deal on cooperation in international mining projects during an engineering sector technologies forum on June 27, Interfax reported.

Russian Technologies said in a press release that the corporation might support Russian companies investing in platinum-group mining in Zimbabwe and South Africa with its industrial know-how. Metalloinvest said Russia Technologies would coordinate programs and plans to development cooperation, including at an interstate level.
