Tax May Not Rise

The Finance Ministry could review plans to increase the mineral extraction tax on gas that would have raised rates most sharply on independent producers such as Novatek, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Shatalov said Wednesday.

The government has already approved rate increases planned for 2013-15. Shatalov said the rates could be reduced from the planned levels without an overall reduction in planned additional budget revenue.
