Gazprom Talks With Iran

Russia and Iran have held talks on building an underground gas storage facility near Tehran, a Gazprom executive said.

"Last year preliminary negotiations were conducted with Iranian specialists on the question of building, with our participation, an underground gas storage facility in the Tehran region," Valery Khloptsov, chief executive of Gazprom subsidiary Podzemgazprom, said in an interview published Wednesday. "I think that … this project will be realized because our foreign partners are very interested in this," he added.

Iran abandoned plans to work with Gazprom on the Azar oil field last October, despite years of talks.
