Putin's Third Term to Focus on Physical and Spiritual Development

In Vladimir Putin's third term as president he will focus on the physical and spiritual development of the country, the prime minister's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The first term was a reanimation of the country, the second term was the rehabilitation of the country, and now begins the physical and spiritual development of the country — its economy and all areas," Peskov said in comments aired on state-controlled Channel One, Interfax reported.

Peskov continued his focus on the president-elect's willingness to get down to business: "This updated Putin does not come, sit down and ask, 'Well what do we do now?' He knows well where he will go, what he will do, how he will do it, when, and with whom."

Independent journalism isn’t dead. You can help keep it alive.

As the only remaining independent, English-language news source reporting from Russia, The Moscow Times plays a critical role in connecting Russia to the world.

Editorial decisions are made entirely by journalists in our newsroom, who adhere to the highest ethical standards. We fearlessly cover issues that are often considered off-limits or taboo in Russia, from domestic violence and LGBT issues to the climate crisis and a secretive nuclear blast that exposed unknowing doctors to radiation.
