Car Sales Up in February

Russian new car and light commercial vehicle sales accelerated in February, advancing the most since November, the Association of European Businesses in Russia said Sunday.

Sales rose 25 percent from a year earlier to 206,873, up from 20 percent growth in January. The 10 best-selling passenger cars were all produced domestically, the group said.

Growth so far this year is more than anticipated, said David Thomas, chairman of the group's automobile manufacturing committee. "As the first two months in the Russian market are subject to vacations and the impact of closing stocks, it is too early to revise our full-year view," he said.
