Artemyev Blasts Law

The law on natural monopolies should be eliminated since it hinders efforts to combat monopolization, Federal Anti-Monopoly Service head Igor Artemyev said in the Federation Council on Wednesday, Interfax reported.

"There is a special law on natural monopolies from 1995. The whole assortment of sector-based laws is expanded because of this law. If something is against the law on protecting competition, it might not be against the sector law," he said.

Artemyev added that the regulations of the natural monopoly law should be included in a chapter of the law on competition.
