RusAl Has Dispute in Guinea

CONAKRY, Guinea — Former workers at United Company RusAl's Friguia alumina refinery in Guinea blocked a railroad that links the plant to the main port at Conakry, halting exports, said Ibrahima Talibe Diallo, a member of the group.

About 132 people protested after the company failed to pay them salary arrears, he said. "We will block the railroad until we obtain our checks," Diallo said.

RusAl "completely settled" claims by former employees, spokesman Yury Grigoryev said in a statement Monday. The protest is expected to be resolved after a "short delay," he said. "All the installations at RusAl-Friguia are working," he said.
