Carmaking on the Rise

Production of cars in Russia went up 58.1 percent to 1.09 million units in January-August 2011, ACM-Holdings said Monday. 

Car production in August increased 47.4 percent to 145,200 units, including 60,100 Russian models and 85,100 foreign models.

Russian enterprises assembled 126,300 trucks in January-August 2011, up 46.5 percent. Production of trucks in August increased 45 percent to 16,100 units.

Russia's main car producers are AvtoVaz, Sollers Group and Avtoframos, Renault's Moscow plant. The biggest truck producers are Kamaz and GAZ Group.
