2 Rebels Slain in Caucasus

ROSTOV-ON-DON — Two insurgents have been killed in separate incidents in Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria, officials said.

A spokesman for the Dagestani Interior Ministry, Vyacheslav Gasanov, said three insurgents opened fire Friday on the local office of the Federal Security Service in the city of Derbent. Police tracked them down and killed one, while another fled into a residence where police were demanding he surrender.
