Finns to Upgrade Power Grid

Finland's Ensto Group will provide grid operator MRSK Holding with equipment and training to improve the quality and efficiency of the Russian electrical grid under a cooperation agreement signed Friday.

The deal, signed by MRSK general director Nikolai Shvets and Ensto Group president Timo Luukkainen at a ceremony in Moscow, will see Ensto — which makes environmentally friendly equipment for the energy sector — provide MRSK with a full range of its products, technical and maintenance support and training for MRSK staff.

"The signature of the agreement is a result of the Holding's long-term cooperation with Ensto. Company products are used at all MRSK subsidiaries," Shvets said at the ceremony.

The companies also plan to create a joint venture to produce fittings for self-supporting insulated wires.
