AvtoVAZ, which is 25 percent-owned by Renault, will manufacture powertrains for Lada and Renault models as soon as 2013, Renault's top executive in the country said Tuesday.
AvtoVAZ will produce gasoline engines and gearboxes for Renault models including the Megane and no-frills Sandero, as well as a new generation of Lada vehicles, the French carmaker's Russia chief Bruno Ancelin said during a briefing in Moscow.
Renault, its Japanese affiliate Nissan and AvtoVAZ are targeting a total of 1.6 million vehicle sales for a 40 percent combined market share in 2016, he said.
