Ex-Nationalist Jailed

Moscow City Court has sentenced a former ultranationalist to 16 years in prison for shooting and injuring one of the Federal Security Service officials who came to search his house in 2009, RIA-Novosti reported.

Sergei Marshakov quit the unnamed nationalist group he was affiliated with in 2000, but kept ties with its members, investigators said. The FSB attempted to search his house on a tip that firearms owned by a group's member were stored there.

Marshakov, who promised to appeal, could not explain at the trial why he attacked the officers.
