Cyber Attacks Up in January

File-sharing cyber attacks are on the rise, antivirus software developer Kaspersky Labs said Wednesday.

As many users of peer-to-peer file-sharing networks were attacked in January 2011 as in all of 2009. The number of file-sharing users also increased greatly.

The 6 million file-sharing network users in Russia attacked last year caught a virus an average of six times. Also, 1.9 billion computer users, or one out of two worldwide, experienced some sort of cyber attack or virus. Attacks that aim to steal corporate secrets outnumber those on home Internet users.
