Somali pirates have hijacked a German cargo ship, the Beluga Nomination, with a crew of Russian and Ukrainian sailors, officials said Tuesday.
Four Russians and one Ukrainian are among the ship’s crew of 12, the Sovfracht.info industry news web site said. The crew members might have barricaded themselves in one of the rooms awaiting help, it said.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said the crew included Ukrainians, Russians, Filipinos and Poles.
A spokeswoman for the ship’s owner, Beluga Shipping, did not give details regarding the ship’s crew, country of registration or location.
