Gazprom will buy 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan, the company said in an e-mailed statement Friday.
Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller and the president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, Rovnaq Abdullayev, said the accord is in addition to an amount previously agreed on Sept. 3, according to the statement, which cited a meeting between the two men in St. Petersburg.
The Azeri energy company, known as Socar, agreed in September to sell as much as 2 billion cubic meters of gas to Gazprom.
