Azeri 2010 Inflation Jumped

BAKU, Azerbaijan — Azerbaijan’s inflation rate was 11.45 percent last year, twice the estimate given by the government, an economic research institute said in a report Tuesday.

The Baku-based Economic Research Center said it calculated the inflation rate based on information gathered from 22 regions throughout Azerbaijan as part of a project funded by the Swiss government.

Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev said Jan. 15 that the 2010 inflation rate was 5.7 percent, according to the AzerTag news service.
