Policeman Shot in Dagestan

Twin attacks on law enforcement officers in Dagestan on Wednesday killed a policeman and injured five others as well as a military serviceman and a local resident, Interfax reported.

The policemen came under attack by machine gunners on a roadside checkpoint by the city of Kizlyar, a city police official told Interfax. A local woman whose documents were being checked by the officers was also injured.

The army officer was injured in a blast targeting a military vehicle column near the town of Manas.
