EC Satisfied on Poland Deal

The European Commission is “satisfied” with the new gas supply deal between Russia and Poland, Gazprom said Tuesday.

Gazprom chief Alexei Miller met with the European Union’s Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger for talks Tuesday on EU-Russian gas relations.

“During the meeting, Günther Oettinger, speaking on behalf of the European Commission, expressed his satisfaction with the course and result of the Russian-Polish talks about cooperation in the gas industry,” Gazprom said.

Last week, Poland signed a new gas deal with Russia that will increase deliveries to about 10 billion cubic meters a year, but the deal had yet to receive the blessing of the European Union, which had concerns about pipeline access and shareholder control.
