Rally Curbs to Be Ignored

The Solidarity opposition movement said Thursday that it will bring more than 800 people to rally on Triumfalnaya Ploshchad on Sunday, ignoring City Hall curbs on the number of participants, Interfax reported.

City Hall said Monday that it had authorized the event provided that no more than 800 people attended, not 1,500 as organizers initially requested.

But Solidarity said the authorities were only entitled to issue “recommendations” about crowd size.
