Norilsk Nickel said Wednesday that it expects a “provocation” at an extraordinary shareholders meeting Thursday to re-elect its board, amid a conflict between billionaire owners Oleg Deripaska and Vladimir Potanin.
Norilsk will conduct the meeting under Russian law and ensure that “every single vote” is counted, the company said.
It said “some” company filed a lawsuit in Siberia seeking to block voting at the meeting. The company, Fonmi & Partners, also filed a lawsuit in Moscow seeking to annul deals Norilsk conducted with treasury shares.
