Field Landing in Buryatia

A pilot and one of the eight passengers of an An-2 biplane were hospitalized with minor injuries in the Buryatia republic after an emergency landing Friday that has left the plane stranded in a field, Interfax reported.

The plane had to land 75 kilometers away from its destination, the town of Bagdarin, to avoid being caught in a storm, said a spokeswoman for the local branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, Interfax reported.

A search operation initiated after the plane went missing found the pilot and the passengers, including a child, sheltered at a local deer farm, she said.
