Uralkali Chairman Elected

YEKATERINBURG — Alexander Voloshin, ex-chairman of Norilsk Nickel, has been elected chairman of Uralkali, the potash producer said Friday.

An extraordinary general meeting of Uralkali elected a new board, which included six representatives of the biggest shareholder, Suleiman Kerimov, as well as Voloshin, it said.

Separately, Russian Technologies chief Sergei Chemezov said his state-run holding had abandoned plans to enter the fertilizer market. The company earlier had expressed interest in acquiring Uralkali’s rival, Silvinit.
