The ruling United Russia party on Wednesday nominated four candidates to replace outgoing Kalmykia leader Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Interfax reported.
The list, which was sent to President Dmitry Medvedev, includes three ethnic Kalmyks: Volgograd Deputy Governor Alexander Dorzhdeyev; Kalmykia’s first deputy prime minister, Alexei Orlov; and Bembei Khukhlachiyev, deputy chief of the Federal Service for Financial Markets. The fourth candidate, the speaker of Kalmykia’s legislature, Anatoly Kozachko, is an ethnic Russian.
