Moscow city authorities razed five houses located in the city’s most popular recreation area, the riverside forest of Serebryany Bor, RIA-Novosti reported Thursday.
Demolition of the wooden houses, the construction of which was never completed, started Aug. 5 but was only reported Thursday. It is scheduled to end by September.
The houses, whose owners have not been identified, were ruled by the Moscow Arbitration Court in January to have been constructed illegally. City Hall has filed lawsuits to destroy 12 more houses in Serebryany Bor.
