2 Charged in Football Fan’s Death

Chechen native Akhmedpasha Aidayev has been charged with killing football fan Yury Volkov in a brawl near the Chistiye Prudy metro station in Moscow, Ekho Moskvy radio reported Thursday.

Another Chechen, Bekhan Ibragimov, has been charged with inflicting grave bodily harm in the same clash.

Magomed Suleimanov, who has confessed to stabbing Volkov to death, is only considered a witness by police, who say he admitted his guilt to cover for someone else.

Aidayev faces up to 15 years in prison and Ibragimov up to eight years over the July 10 incident, whose circumstances remain unclear. The clash has fueled ethnic tensions in Moscow and prompted three big rallies by Volkov’s supporters.
