Five New Pedestrian Zones Planned for Moscow

City Hall is planning to build five new pedestrian zones in the city center this year, the urban planning department said.

The proposed routes will link Maroseyka Ulitsa and Pokrovka Ulitsa, Ploshchad Gagarina with Ploshchad Yevropy, and Ploshchad Revolyutsii with Nikolskaya Ulitsa. Two other areas — Triumfalnaya Ploshchad and Pyatnitskaya Ulitsa — will also be pedestrianized, RIA Novosti reported.

The total length of the new paths will be 10 kilometers, adding to the 5.7 kilometers of vehicle-free routes constructed in Moscow last year.

Meanwhile, Wi-Fi will be installed on all pedestrian streets in cities in the Moscow region, a press release from the Moscow regional government said Friday.
