Yevgeny Dzhugashvili, grandson of late Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the State Duma, seeking 100 million rubles ($3.2 million) over legislature blaming his grandfather for the 1940 Katyn massacre.
Dzhugashvili, who filed his suit with the Supreme Court last week, wants the compensation to be paid by the 342 Duma deputies who supported the declaration passed on Nov. 26 that named Stalin responsible for ordering the slaughter of some 20,000 Poles during World War II, the Communist Party said on its web site Saturday.
Dzhugashvili, 74, has a record of unsuccessful lawsuits to protect Stalin’s memory. He has filed complaints against Novaya Gazeta, Ekho Moskvy, the Ukrainian secret services and the Russian State Archive.
