Prodigal Returns?

LONDON () -- Tottenham, seeking a replacement for Ossie Ardiles, has been given permission to speak to David Pleat who left the London club under a cloud in 1987.

Luton chairman David Kohler said on Thursday he had reluctantly allowed Pleat to talk to Spurs chairman Alan Sugar about the managerial vacancy created by the weekend sacking of Ardiles.

Kohler said he would not stand in Pleat's way if he decided to return to Tottenham -- seven years after being sacked following allegations about his private life.
