PolyGram Into Poland

AMSTERDAM -- PolyGram NV, the 75-percent owned music and entertainment subsidiary of Philips Electronics NV, said Monday it bought record and music publisher Izabelin Studio of Poland for an undisclosed sum.

Warsaw-based Izabelin is the country's market leader in local language repertoire, and was founded by rock guitarist Andrez Puczynski of the Polish band Exodus, which sold over a million albums in the early 1980s.

After the acquisition the company will be renamed PolyGram Poland, though it will retain its Izabelin name on record labels. Puczynski will stay on as company president.
