Night Work Hits Roads

MOSCOW () -- The Moscow government has established its first round-the-clock emergency road repair service, city maintenance officials said.

Although engineering and construction teams have long worked at night to avoid disturbing traffic, road services have only carried out repairs during daylight hours, said Anatoly Meshkov, head of city road repair.

A mayoral decree last week provided for the establishment of a specially trained team that will work nights, he said. The service will be provided with up-to-date asphalt production and repair equipment, he said.
