International efforts to fight corruption should be consolidated, but certain policies and standards should not be pushed on countries that are not ready for them yet, head of the presidential administration Sergei Ivanov said on Monday during a conference of United Nations anti-corruption convention member states in St. Petersburg.
?€?We are sure that anti-corruption actions on an international level demand exact rules and consolidated efforts. But I consider it intolerable to push standards on countries that are not ready for them,?€? Ivanov said, according to Interfax.
?€?We often see that the experience of some states when creating [different] norms of behavior are inappropriate and even harmful,?€? he said.
It is important to consider each country's particular qualities when implementing international anti-corruption standards, Ivanov said.
