Karkarashvili in Coma

MOSCOW () -- The former Georgian defense minister Georgy Karkarashvili, who was seriously injured in an attack by gunmen in southern Moscow on Wednesday, remains in an "extremely serious" condition, a spokesman for the Georgian Embassy said Thursday.


According to David Demetrashvili, the general is at the intensive care department of Sklifosovsky Hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds to the head and thigh.


A spokesman for the hospital said the general remained in a coma.
