Finland Accuses Russia of Violating Airspace

Andrei Gordeyev / Vedomosti

Finland's border service has registered a Russian helicopter violating Finnish airspace, according to a post on its website on Friday.

The helicopter was spotted by the border service in the eastern part of the Finnish Gulf on Thursday morning, having flown 9 kilometers into Finland's airspace.

The border guards tried to contact the pilots by radio but they did not respond. After several warnings, the helicopter flew back to Russia.

A Russian helicopter entered Georgia's airspace on Thursday, according to the Georgian Defense Ministry, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

The Russian Defense Ministry denied the Georgian claims and said there has been no Russian helicopters near the Georgian border at that time, the TASS news agency reported.
