Dysentery Kills 10

KIEV () -- An outbreak of dysentery has killed 10 people in Ukraine's eastern Lugansk region and 23 people across the country have contracted typhoid fever, the Ukrinform news agency said Monday.

More than 3,000 Ukrainians have been struck down recently by serious diseases such as hepatitis and salmonella, the agency said. Of these more than 700 were children.

Unlike the other illnesses, dysentery appears to be confined to Lugansk, where 70 victims have been diagnosed.
