Nadezhda Tolokonnikova from the outspoken Pussy Riot protest group released a song devoted to the recent corruption scandal involving Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika on Wednesday.
As of noon Thursday, the music video had gathered almost 500,000 views.
The video is based on the latest investigation by Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. In December 2015 Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation released "Chaika," an investigative film that accused Chaika's family members, including his two sons, of involvement in shady business deals and various illegal activities.
“When you realize it's not just fiction, that it's actually part of your life, it makes your flesh crawl. That's why we had to react,” Tolokonnikova said in an interview with the Dozhd independent television channel. The song was recorded in support of Navalny, she added.
The video aims to make more people aware of Navalny's investigation and to force the Prosecutor General to resign, Tolokonnikova said.
