A woman who offered a businessman a job in the Kremlin for $3 million was detained by police Monday, Interfax reported.
The women, identified as Peruz Shaginyan, was detained in connection with the fraudulent sale of state positions. Interior Ministry officials said Shaginyan tried to present herself as a person with connections in high places, enabling her to offer senior jobs in state organs for cash.
Shaginyan had offered an unidentified businessman a senior post in the presidential administration for $3 million. She was detained during a sting operation while receiving 1.5 million rubles ($47,000) as a pre-payment from a businessman.
Two men who attempted last May to sell seats in the State Duma for 20 million euros were each sentenced to five years in prison for attempted fraud.
