New Metro Station to Open

Moscow's 186th metro station will open to passengers Thursday in the far eastern outskirts of the city, Interfax reported.

The Novokosino stop will come right after Novogireyevo on the yellow Kalininskaya line.

The underground platform boasts a gray and black color scheme, while a large parking lot is to be built outside the station for commuters to park their cars.

Construction on the station was supposed to start in late 2008 but only got under way in mid-2009 because of a lack of funds.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. Our commitment to providing accurate and unbiased reporting on Russia remains unshaken. But we need your help to continue our critical mission.
