Moscow's Crazy Roads: Nifty Swerving Maneuvers Avert Major Accident

Editor's note: This video is part of a series. The Moscow Times will publish a selection of unusual incidents on roads in Moscow and the Moscow region in the coming weeks. Watch this space for more video clips.

Lightning-fast reflexes prevented a multiple collision early Thursday morning, when a white van came to a sudden halt on a four-lane stretch of federal highway near Moscow.

In video footage of the incident, captured on a dashboard camera at roughly 6:30 a.m., a green van is forced to swerve hastily to its left to avoid colliding with the stationary vehicle.

A grey sedan succeeds in pulling off a similar maneuver, and the three drivers go about their daily business unscathed.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. Our commitment to providing accurate and unbiased reporting on Russia remains unshaken. But we need your help to continue our critical mission.
