Moscow's transport department will add another 153 streets to the city's paid parking zone on Aug. 1, according to a departmental order published online.
The soon-to-be-restricted streets are in the city's Khamovniki, Presnensky, Arbat, Tverskoi and Dorogomilovo districts. ?
Parking in the new restricted zones, which are within the Third Ring Road, will cost 40 rubles per hour ($1.15), 8,000 rubles ($230) per month or 80,000 rubles (2,300) per year, a transport department spokesman told Interfax on Monday.
Residents will be able to park in these zones for free from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Paid parking was introduced to the city center in late 2012 in a bid to help tackle Moscow's infamous congestion. The system was expanded up to the borders of the downtown Boulevard Ring in June 2013 and then widened to the Garden Ring at the end of December 2013.
