Chaika's Ex-Deputy's Wife Files Lawsuit Against Navalny

Olga Lopatina, the former wife of Deputy Prosecutor General Gennady Lopatin, filed a slander lawsuit against Russian opposition-leader Alexei Navalny and his Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Interfax agency reported Tuesday.

In the lawsuit, Lopatina asked the court to order FBK to remove its film “Chaika” from public access claiming it was a hoax, and to pay her moral damages, agency said.

The film, released on Dec. 1, accuses Prosecutor General Yury Chaika's family members, including his two sons and some colleagues, of being involved in shady business deals.

According to the FBK investigation, Chaika's son Artyom owns a luxurious villa in Greece and a house in Switzerland, and co-owns a five-star hotel in Greece with Lopatina.

The film also links Gennady Lopatin and his ex-wife to the Tsapok gang responsible for a series of murders in the southern Russian town of Kushchevskaya.

Earlier in December, Lopatina denied being involved in joint business with the Tsapok family in an official letter, the RBC newspaper reported.

Navalny in return claimed that anyone can prove Lopatina was lying using open-source information, his website said.
