I started to truly appreciate The Moscow Times when Russian independent media were expelled from the country and had to set up shop abroad. Unlike many Russian émigré outlets that survive on unvarnished hostility toward the regime — and whose coverage inevitably bears that imprint — this newspaper has resisted the slide into polemic. Instead, it continues to offer rigorously objective reporting that lets readers glean clear, reliable insight into events in Russia and around the world.
