The Year's Most Scandalous Film: 'Text'

Russian cinematography gets sexually explicit

“The Text” Central Partnership

Klim Shipenko’s “The Text” is based on the eponymous novel by Dmitriy Glukhovsky, author of bestselling series "Metro 2033" (the film version of which iss also currently in development). The film is rather faithful to the text of “The Text” (no pun intended) and revolves around the life of Ilya Goryunov just released after seven years in prison on false charges. “The Text” became of the most contentious films of the 2019 fall season because of an unusually explicit (for Russian cinema) sex scene.
