How to Celebrate the Holidays on Wednesday in Moscow

21 Food Market offers more than 20 upscale food shops and downscale prices.

Here's a good way to start getting into the holiday spirit: go to The 21 Food Market's birthday party.

If you don't already know, The 21 Food Market opened last year as a kind of upscale food court: more than 20 mini-restaurants offering everything from Indian to Uzbek food, all conceived and cooked by mostly young, always food-obsessed chefs. Feel like a falafel? Get it at Gelman. Crave a crab cake? Go to Crab 'n' Caviar. You want Italian but your BFF wants Asian? No problem. The 21 Food Market has it covered.

Starting this month, the Food Market will be highlighting one national cuisine every month. December's cuisine in the spotlight is Israeli, so if you love hummus, falafel and tabouli, head on over.

On Wednesday night, the gang is celebrating their first birthday with DJs, music, celebrities, foodies and lots of food and drink. No cover charge; come and party until you drop or the clock strikes midnight.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
