A man in southern Russia faces murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing a martial arts coach at an athletic club his child attended, and injuring two other men, the Investigative Committee said in a statement Monday.
Investigators believe that the shooting Monday night in the city of Saratov was caused by a private dispute between the suspect, 45, and the karate coach, 48, the statement said, without elaborating.
Police have detained the suspected shooter, state-run RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing a spokesperson for the regional branch of the Interior Ministry.
An unidentified law-enforcement official was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying the shooting was prompted by the bruising the suspect spotted on his daughter's body after a karate training session. The Investigative Committee, however, said the suspected shooter had a son, not a daughter, attending the athletic club.
