A man suspected of being behind an explosion at a bus stop in the Irkutsk region earlier this month knew the victim and targeted him deliberately, state news agency TASS reported Thursday.
A man had to have his leg amputated as a result of the explosion in the city of Angarsk on Jan. 15.
"The crime was directed against a specific person. The suspect knew the victim, and where he lives and works," Dmitry Vasyanov, deputy head of the regional Investigative Committee, was quoted as saying by TASS.
The 35-year-old suspect, who was detained Wednesday after police found evidence connecting him with the explosion, is cooperating with the investigation, TASS reported.
Investigators had previously been to the hospital to question the victim, who did not suspect that the incident was an attack on his life and had no idea who could have been behind it, the news agency said.
