Ski Federation Appeals for Donations Toward Komissarova's Treatment

President Putin visiting ski cross racer Maria Komissarova in hospital.

The Russian Freestyle Federation, or RFF, is collecting donations for ski cross racer Maria Komissarova, who is in Germany recuperating from a broken back she suffered during training in Sochi.

Komissarova's rehabilitation could be a lengthy process and the RFF has appealed for extra financial support in a statement on its website.

Funding for Komissarova's transfer to Germany and her treatment has so far been provided by government bodies and the RFF.

Financial contributions will be collected through Ostrova, a St. Petersburg-based charity organization. Information on how to donate is published on the RFF's website.

Komissarova has undergone two operations after she suffered a fractured vertebrae with dislocation on Saturday, and is currently in a hospital in Munich.
