Vladivostok Bridge Launched

The bridge linking Vladivostok and Russky Island was opened for traffic Wednesday in a ceremony presided over by Vladivostok Mayor Igor Pushkaryov, Interfax reported.

"This is a unique facility, [and] all the inhabitants of the city, [the Primorsky] region and Russia are proud of its builders. They are glad that it happened in Vladivostok," the mayor said at the ceremony.

The bridge was built for the 2012 APEC summit, which will be held on the island Sept. 1-8.
